Business Development Associates work in region-specific teams to create product portfolios for clients that meet their specific needs and help them drive climate action their way.  

In essence, your role involves

Lead specialized research on regulations and policies and translate regulatory changes into actionable product requirements and client-ready guidance within one or more domains (renewable fuels, gases, carbon markets, renewable power) in a region (Americas, EMEA, or APAC) or (APAC) specific country.  Ensure regulatory intelligence translates into market compliance strategies and development of market-relevant product offerings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead policy research – to deliver actionable recommendations that inform product development and equip commercial teams with practical guidance for market readiness.
  • Identify potential product-development opportunities in assigned domain – to align with customer needs in compliance or voluntary markets and expand ACT’s regional growth options.
  • Work under guidance to mature identified opportunities – to demonstrate commercial potential and strategic fit using ACT’s established product-innovation process, supporting informed investment decisions.
  • Develop advocacy positions – to contribute to shaping ACT’s regulatory stance and strengthen the company’s credibility in policy forums.
  • Integrate regulatory intelligence into product feasibility and design – to ensure compliance and market readiness from concept through launch.
  • Draft regulatory communications for internal and external use – to enable consistent, accurate messaging that supports decision-making and stakeholder alignment.
  • Liaise with cross-functional teams – to confirm product designs meet regulatory requirements and facilitate efficient, compliant go-to-market execution.
  • Contribute to process-improvement initiatives – to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and consistency of regulatory intelligence across regions and improve product-innovation quality.
  • Represent ACT in industry and regulatory conferences or workshops – to share ACT’s expertise, strengthen external networks, and reinforce ACT’s leadership position in environmental markets.

Your Expertise: 

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Environmental Science, Economics, Engineering
  • 6 to 10 years in policy/regulation with product relevance. Demonstrated ability to analyze policy and regulations and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify product development opportunities resulting from policy change and market opportunities.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret complex policy frameworks and translate them into actionable business implications.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with regional and global R&D priorities. Sound judgment and structured problem-solving to balance regulatory and policy requirements with market opportunity.
  • Clear communication, attention to detail, and a proactive, collaborative mindset.

Registration
For users who register on our website, we store the personal information that they or their employer have provided. In addition, we store data about the use of the Sprad tool in order to reward users with points for their activities. Furthermore, registered users can upload their LinkedIn contacts in the tool to receive suggestions for recommending jobs. This data is only available to the user to help them recommend suitable contacts.

Application / Talent Pool
For visitors who apply for a job or the Talent Pool on our website, we additionally store the personal information they provide in the application form. The data is shared only with the company that posted the job posting to which the user applied. In addition, the user through whose personal referral link the applicant applied is continuously informed about the current status of the application process.

Network
We process your personal data, particularly in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and all other applicable laws. We process and collect your personal data on the basis of a legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 (1) lit. f DSGVO. The purpose pursued is the collection of personal data from public sources for the improved provision of the user network and communication in the form of our own service.

We have collected your personal data from public sources, not directly from you. These are, in particular, the provider of the social business platforms LinkedIn. We only collect the personal data that you have self-determinedly made available to the public. We do not collect any other personal data.

E-Mail communication
If you are in an e-mail exchange with us, data such as your name, e-mail address, company, and e-mail content are stored and processed in our e-mail software. At the end of each year, we check whether further storage is necessary or whether there are retention obligations for the e-mails. Depending on this, e-mails are further stored or deleted. No automated decision-making
There is no automated decision-making or profiling.

Duration of data storage
We store your personal data only as long as it is necessary for the fulfillment of our legal obligations or you request a deletion, according to Art. 17 DSGVO. Likewise, when the purpose of our processing expires or is fulfilled, we will delete your personal data immediately.
